Tips for Floating in the Dead Sea

~In an large plastic bag bring a towel, bathing suit, water shoes and oversize tshirt to protect from the sun, if you won't be applying mud to your body.

~For women with long hair that tangles easy, pack a small bottle of heavy conditioner (leave in conditioner is even better) and a wide tooth comb.

~Don't worry about rinsing your stuff..bring your oldest bathing suit and water shoes and DUMP it there. There is an odor and greasy film that remains to those items and it's not worth taking the chance that it will stink up the rest of your clothes

~Check your modesty at the door for the changing rooms, they are wide open with only a few shower/toilet stalls that are far from clean/sanitary.

~Refrain from shaving your legs or arm pits for about 3 days prior.

~Pack in your First Aid kit liquid skin which you can apply in advance to any blisters or cuts that you have gotten while traveling.

~Bring 2 disposable underwater cameras or at least one for each person, it's a pain to pass it back and forth and then seal those in a ziplock bag to return home.

~If you would like to pose for a picture, don't forget a disposable magazine/ brochure or product item.  I know restaurants, magazines and corporations will give you free "stuff" if you send in a picture of you overseas advertising their product. You might want to keep that in mind, when deciding what "prop" to bring with you.

~Bring a hat to wear in the water, it will protect the glare and from other people who spashing water over your head.

~The best approach to getting into the water is to take the smallest of small steps. The floor of the Dead Sea can just drop off. You will fall in the water and most likely get your face wet. In fact we suggest sitting down as soon as the water is about midway up your calves and then push yourself farther out.

~The Dead Sea products are VERY pricey in the store in Israel, the same manufacturers can be found at TJ MAXX for a fraction of the cost and you won't be dealing with the extra weight in your luggage. Do a little research on this BEFORE you leave your home.

~I should also add that as a individual who lives 24/7 with chronic pain, while I was in the Dead Sea I was pain free!

We hope these tips help you have an excellent experience floating in the Dead Sea.

We found our Dead Sea experience to be A LOT of fun.
